Last summer I had the opportunity to exercise my design ideas with a new client. The main objective was window treatments for her recently installed plantation shutters. The home was a comfortable mix of modern, whimsy, and traditional. My client has a way with color, and is not afraid of brights- she described her aesthetic as “Tommy Bahama”.
These are the windows, which are half covered in plantation shutters. There is a matching window on the other side of the sofa.
The fireplace in the same room. You can see the second window, as well as feel for the room. It’s a very casual space, with many natural finishes.
This is the dining room that is adjacent to the living room. As you see, this room is bright and lively. The main challenge of the these window treatments were the using colors and patterns that mesh well in both spaces since they open into each other and are used cohesively.
Below are some of the sketches of possible window treatment options:
The service purchased for this project included:
- Initial service consultation
- Personal shopping service to select fabrics
- Designer renderings and sketches
- Multiple site visits for design consultations
The finally product was created by my client at her request. The finished window treatment consisted of a fixed satin roman shade with a single printed panel along the outside of each window (similar to the single panel on the second sketch).
